You and me BOTH (smile). I'm also reminded of a scene from the movie, "The Last Samurai", where Ken Watanabe's character is considering the cherry blossoms. ;-)

One of the best "alien invasion" movies, or at least more plausible, that I've seen recently is the 2010 Gareth Edwards' limited release called "Monsters." Very slow building, but it is kind of chilling when you realize what's happening at the end.

It's an interesting observation, and one that rings true to me on a number of levels. First of all, I grew up playing music (http://bit.ly/v391xW) but always wanted to be a writer (http://trnunes.com). Perhaps decades of playing helped me be a better listener, which then helped my writing/editing(?). Also, when I started composing music with lyrics (http://bit.ly/rcZyFb), my writing experience obviously lent a hand. Finally, I've always been a generalist, "A jack of all trades, master of none", whether in college ("Liberal Studies") or professionally ("parts clerk", "IT support"...), so I've also pretty much always had an appreciation for the value of "knowing just enough to be dangerous." ;-)

Ah, it's not me ... I pulled this off of Language Log, where the debate rages, Oxforders on one side, people of your mindset on the other. I'm staying out of it -- I just thought the cartoon was funny.

Actually, you’re wrong. Serial/Oxford commas are simply a matter of house style and preference. Some publications use them, some don’t. So both of these sentences mean the exact same thing.

If Stalin and JFK were strippers, you could use a colon:

"We invited the strippers: JFK and Stalin."

ROFL! Makes me wonder if someone ever came up with a spoofed "Eats, shoots, and leaves" cover featuring former US Vice President Dick Cheney. ;-0

I just replaced my old Captcha with one that, instead of forcing you to decipher horrible graphics, challenges your math abilities. Hopefully this one will work better!

In my case I'm not sure it's about time as much as it's about energy. Well, yes, and related to that -- prioritization. If I know I'm going to be exhausted at the end of the day, I should move my most important projects to the beginning, or at least to some time slot where I'm the most warmed up and ready to go.

I'll check that book out. Have you ever read <i><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Writing-Down-Bones-Freeing-Writer/dp/0877733759" rel="nofollow">Writing Down the Bones</a></i>? That's the one that always gives me inspiration.
