Ever seen that Seinfeld episode where the Soup Nazi would scream, “No soup for you!”

Well, there were no pomegranates for me.  After a total of nine stores, one helpful produce person told me, “Oh, they’re out of season.  You won’t find any anywhere for at least a couple months.”

Great.

I think what it’s really illustrative of is the implication that pomegranates aren’t as popular as other produce. For example, it used to be very difficult to find certain fruits and vegetables when they weren’t in season in the US. Now, you can find asparagus from Venesula, and apples from Pago Pago (okay, honestly, I don’t know what Pago Pago exports, or even if it’s a real destination, but you get my drift, I’m sure). ;-)
